Do you feel like your struggling and feeling frustrated with a move or a combo? Then you might need to go back and work on the previous move or previous step. It’s so tempting to jump ahead but if you don’t work on the correct move for your level you will end up hitting a wall, feeling down and not progressing.

Small steps every class, working at your level, will help you keep progressing nicely.

How do I know I’m ready to move on to the next step or next move? Here are some of the things you can do to check your ready to move on:

You can…

  • enter the move and dismount in a controlled and correct manner

  • hold the move for the count of 5

  • perform the move with correct posture, pointy toes or straight legs when required

  • do the move one handed (when safe to do so)

  • do the move both sides (not always to the same level but at least a good base start)

  • perform the move whilst spinning

  • put the move into a combo

Make sure to practice your new move enough times to allow your body to get used to it, understand the grip points and technique and so your muscles can build the strength needed for the next step.

Some moves are can feel harder than others but make sure not to avoid any moves as pole and aerial requires all over body conditioning and a well balanced training in order to progress.

Are you guilty of jumping ahead? Don’t worry it happens to all of us, so go back to the previous move and work on some of the above points. You will be amazed with how much you will achieve just by sticking to your level 💪🏼
